Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves played it safe when he was asked to comment on how the officiating went in their matchup against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night.
While Towns did not make any specific and negative comments that could put him at risk of getting fined, his frustration towards the calls made last night is crystal clear.
“I’m going to save my money, because whatever I say ain’t going to change anything,” Towns said, per Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “That’s a fact.”
Players or coaches who explicitly complain about the officials or the calls usually get penalized with a pretty hefty fine. It remains to be seen if the NBA will actually look into Towns' comments and fine him for that, as he was visibly upset with the officiating.
Still, can you blame the Timberwolves talent? Check out the two plays below, which were pretty questionable at best.
The two quick fouls on KAT, the first one is awful but the 2nd one is probably a foul even if there's some embellishment pic.twitter.com/RAXAHh6tku

He didn't even touch LaMarcus Aldridgle on the first one. The second one was arguable since Towns did push off on the Spurs player. Still, the guard appeared to flop to successfully get the call.
Towns had also picked up two early fouls in the first quarter, and picked up another two early ones in the second half, as shown above. The former number one overall pick eventually fouled out, and played just 21 minutes.
Despite the foul trouble, KAT still had a relatively productive evening, notching 23 points and six rebounds.
The Spurs had difficulty of stopping Towns throughout his short stine last night. Luckily for them, the calls seemed to go the Spurs' way, as they escaped with the 116-113 victory.
