Tim Connelly seems to be fitting into his new position quite nicely. He recently joined the Minnesota Timberwolves as the President of Basketball Operations after leaving his front office executive position with the Denver Nuggets.

Less than two weeks after agreeing to a five-year, $40 million deal, Connelly named his senior vice president. According to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Orlando Magic VP Matt Lloyd is headed to Minnesota.

Before accepting the position with the Timberwolves, Llyod was a longtime Magic front office member. Lloyd began his career with the Magic in June of 2012. He spent his first nine years with the Magic as the assistant general manager, before being promoted to vice president of basketball operations in October of 2021. He served as the team's VP for the majority of the 2021-2022 season.

Before his time with the Magic, Lloyd spent 13 years with the Chicago Bulls.

Woj predicts that Lloyd will “play a substantial role” in running the Timberwolves' basketball operations. He also credited the VP for building a “strong resume in player evaluation and deal-making with teams and agents” during his long career in the NBA.

This was just the first of many decisions big decisions Connelly will have to make during his time with the Timberwolves. The front office also has to decide whether or not they are giving Karl-Anthony Towns a supermax contract extension. The team's star center qualified for the massive payday after being named to the All-NBA Third Team.
