Derrick Rose grew up in Chicago in the neighborhood of Englewood, one of the most dangerous places to live in The Windy City. Rose, his three older brothers and their single mom were able to make it out of Englewood thanks to Derrick's special basketball talent.

Rose had a legendary high school basketball career at Simeon Career Academy in Chicago where he won two straight state championships. He then went to the University of Memphis for one season and took the Tigers to the national championship game, where they lost to Kansas.

The Chicago Bulls drafted Derrick Rose with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, making him the hometown hero. Rose won the Rookie of the Year award, made the All-Star team in his second season and made history in his third campaign, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to win the MVP award at 22-years-old.

After winning the MVP award, though, Rose went through many trials and tribulations. The Chicago native suffered four knee injuries which all required surgery. His hometown Bulls traded him to the New York Knicks in the summer of 2016. This documentary looks like it's going to give you a behind the scenes look of what Rose was going through while he was the king of Chicago, and then ultimately an afterthought.

Rose is having a resurgence with the Timberwolves this season. The 30-year-old is averaging 18.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
