If history serves as precedent, Jimmy Butler's trade list may not make much of a difference when it boils down to where the Minnesota Timberwolves may trade their All-Star wing, as noted by Sean Highkin of Bleacher Report.

Butler just requested a trade away from Tom Thibodeau and the Timberwolves, joining Kyrie Irving and Kawhi Leonard as recent All-Star players to request preferable trade destinations in the conversation. After informing Thibodeau that he has no intention of signing a long-term deal in Minnesota, Butler presented a list of ideal landing spots for him that includes the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, and Los Angeles Clippers.

Both Leonard and Irving were shipped off to destinations not included on their original lists because it was better for their original teams, and the same could happen with Butler. Given the relationship between Thibs and Butler, there may be more sense of dedication for the head coach and team president to grant Butler his wish and work out a deal to one of these three teams.

However, Thibs is reportedly not keen on the idea of trading Butler, and even if he comes around on it he may simply look for the best deal. Butler may find himself continuing the trend and ending up somewhere outside of his preference, though he could also wind up adding to his list of preferences, as noted by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
