Former New York Knicks forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas is close to making a decision as to which team he will play for next. Per Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders, the 28-year-old Lithuanian is weighing five offers from teams in the EuroLeague.
Those deals would only be for the remainder of the season, which would allow Kuzminskas to become a free agent again with the hope of returning to the NBA in the upcoming offseason.
Kuzminskas was waived by the Knicks on Nov. 12 in order to make room for Joakim Noah on the roster following the veteran big man’s return from suspension. Kuzminskas played in just two minutes for the Knicks this season prior to being waived.
Kuzminskas’ inability to get any minutes on the Knicks’ rotation was somewhat surprising given his decent rookie campaign. He averaged 6.3 points in 15 minutes over 68 games after coming over as an undrafted free agent last season.
But even with the Knicks’ limited options along the wing, Kuzminskas was never given the opportunity by head coach Jeff Hornacek to earn playing time.
Kuzminskas last played in Europe for Spanish club Unicaja Malaga, where he spent three years from 2013-16. Previous to that, he was a multiple-time champion in his native Lithuanian Basketball League with powerhouse team Zalgiris.
