NBA analyst Jay Williams made headlines on Wednesday after he made the audacious claim that newly-hired Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka is the first Cs “head coach of color.” He was clearly wrong about this factoid and a lot of people called him out for his ignorance — including a completely baffled LeBron James.
Williams has since taken to Twitter to come out with an official statement. Apparently, Williams' account was hacked!
As it relates to the Boston Celtics tweet that came from my account a couple of hours ago… I did not post that & my passcode has now been changed.

For what it's worth, here is Williams' original tweet which has now been deleted from his account:

Yup, Jay Williams is really going with the hacked excuse. Interestingly enough, it took him a good couple of hours before coming out with his official statement. He probably used this time to un-hack his phone and double up on his cybersecurity measures, right?
In case you were wondering, Ime Udoka is absolutely not the first Celtics head coach of color. Bill Russell, Tom Sanders, K.C. Jones, Jimmy Rodgers, M.L. Carr, and Doc Rivers have all preceded Udoka, making him the seventh African American coach in Celtics history.
It's quite embarrassing how a famed basketball analyst such as Jay Williams missed out on this one. Admittedly, though, most of the names on the list may not be familiar to the majority of NBA fans. However, perhaps even most casual supporters know that Doc Rivers led the Celtics to a title not too long ago. Did Jay Williams just have a moment of selective amnesia?
Oh right, he was hacked. This explains everything.
