Dwyane Wade‘s first name is not spelled the conventional way, but most basketball fans know that and are used to it. It still gets spelled the “usual” way at times, with the “y” after the “a” instead of before, as those who just aren't aware of the spelling write it or autocorrect strikes.
This time around, though, when Wade's first name was misspelled, it wasn't even due to a traditional spelling of the name.

It seems like the Starbucks barista spelled his name “Duane.” Leaving out the “y” isn't really the problem here, that's an understandable mistake after all. But changing the “w” to a “u” is a little suspect, although pharmacy chain Duane Reade does use that spelling.
The letter might also be a “v” which could be why Wade is so flabbergasted. If that's the case, the two most likely explanations are that the barista is from a foreign country where the dissection between “v” and “w” isn't as great as it is in the United States, or that the barista was just being quick with writing it and didn't really concern him or herself with if it was spelled correctly.
Whatever the reason, Wade was certainly entertained.
