Former NBA player Sarunas Jasikevicius stated that he wants to remain as coach of the Zalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League. However, according to John Askounis of Eurohoops, the European legend hasn't ruled out a future gig in the NBA, which could happen next season.

Jasikevicius has gained a lot of interest from several teams looking to make changes and provide a fresh face to their coaching staff. Cleveland Cavaliers GM Koby Altman reportedly traveled to Europe to discuss a potential deal with the Eurohoops legend, perhaps as an assistant to newly-minted head coach John Beilein.

Likewise, Memphis Grizzlies Vice President of Basketball Affairs Tayshaun Prince met with Jasikevicius. The Grizzlies currently still do not have a head coach, and it's possible that the 43-year old can fill that role.

Jasikevicius began his coaching career right after retiring from professional basketball in 2014. He started out as assistant coach of Zalgiris, before taking over lead coach duties during the 2015-16 season.

He has won the Lithuanian Basketball League title in all of his four years with the squad. However, he has never won a EuroLeague championship as a coach, most recently bowing out to Fenerbahçe in the 2019 EuroLeague Playoffs. They placed third in the tournament last season.

Before coaching, Zalgiris Kaunas was one of the most well-known basketball legends in Europe. His accolades include four EuroLeague championships, a EuroBasket MVP, and being named to the EuroLeague All-Decade Team from 2001 to 2010.

This will not be Jasikevicius' first time in the NBA as he played a couple of seasons as a player from 2005 to 2007. He spent one and a half years with the Indiana Pacers and half a season with the Golden State Warriors.
