Kobe Bryant has another trophy to take home following his win at the Oscar Sunday night. The now-retired former Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard bagged an Oscar statuette during the 90th staging of the Academy Awards for his part in the making of the animated short film “Dear Basketball.”

Unlike his previous victories on the basketball court, however, there were no postgame interviews waiting for Bryant after his Oscars win, but that did not stop reporters from getting a juicy remark from the ever-quotable future Hall of Famer. According to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, Bryant felt so satisfied with his Oscar triumph that he thought winning the award gave him a sweeter feeling than winning a Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Kobe Bryant, of course, is entitled to his opinion, though, we are not sure whether most other NBA players would agree to that. It’s highly unlikely that Shaquille O’Neal would say that if he won an award for Kazaam or Dennis Rodman if he got a trophy for his role in Double Team. Then again, you could count on one finger the number of NBA players who have won both an NBA title and an Oscar hardware.

The Black Mamba has five NBA rings, two NBA Finals MVPs, a regular season MVP, and had scored over 33,000 points in his illustrious NBA career. All those accolades could be overwhelming to think about for Bryant, and his win at the Oscars gave him something new to cherish.
