There is always sort of a madhouse when Michael Jordan steps into public venues, even if he's not the focus.

His presence brought new inspiration to U-M football, something other athletes such as Michael Phelps says he uses as motivation.

Jordan was in attendance to see the debut of the very first new Jordan Brand U-M football uniforms, and gave the team a pep talk before the opening minutes of the game.

He was chosen to be honorary captain of the team, and even had the opportunity to flip the coin for the team.

There was a buzz in the stadium from fans, coaches, players, and even officials.

Quarterback Wilton Speight told reporters what Jordan Brand represents and means to them.

He has so much pride in what he’s done in his life. To have a brand like Jordan, it represents a lot. Basically he was saying it’s our job to keep the Michigan brand and the Jordan brand up there. He said he went with us because he knew we would do that, and now it’s our job to back it up.

The message was loud and clear. The Wolverines had a job to do before the day was done, but we'll get back to that in a second.

The referees chatted with Jordan about what he meant to the Big Ten conference, and the stadium cheered at every opportunity showing appreciation. They had waited for this day since last year's announcement of the partnering.

U-M basketball coach John Beilein also told reporters about what the brand's representation meant to the school.

Michael Jordan has been so supportive about this move and is behind it 100%. That really makes us all feel good. Just in general, the Jordan brand, the Michigan brand, the  Nike brand — they are all so perfectly matched.

The players love the gear. And they love the idea that Michael Jordan is a big part of this. It’s been a seamless transition.

Jordan exited the stadium after Michigan's first touchdown, because he accomplished what he needed to, and the excitement poured over into the game.

The Wolverines ended the match against Hawaii in domination. The final score was 63-3, Thanks to a little motivation from Jordan Brand.
