NBA head coaches Mike D'Antoni of the Houston Rockets and Alvin Gentry of the New Orleans Pelicans were not a fan of the league's possible mandate when the 2019-20 regular season resumes on July 31.
As per Commissioner Adam Silver, coaches aged 65 and up will be forced to wear face masks during games. The NBA executive also hinted at the possibility of not allowing these coaches to be at the bench at all.
D'Antoni and Gentry were quick to point out that all coaches must be required to do so, regardless of their age, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
On possibility of 65-year-old plus coaches wearing masks in games, D'Antoni and Alvin Gentry told ESPN they'd understand if every coach was required to do so, but didn't believe only they should be made to do so. Silver suggested on TNT those coaches may not be on bench at all.

“I am sure they want to keep everyone safe, but to start singling people out with more risk, well, I would hope they wouldn’t want to get into that,” the Rockets bench boss said on Thursday.
