Despite having a large history of injuries, Missouri’s Jontay Porter, brother of Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr., has decided to once again declare for the NBA Draft. After declaring for the draft last year but returning to school after the NBA Draft Combine, it seems as if the younger Porter will actually be heading to the NBA this time around.

“I’ll be declaring for the 2019 NBA Draft,” Porter posted on Twitter Friday. “I’d like to sincerely thank everyone who has helped me get to this pointing my journey, especially my family, coaches, and teammates. Excited for this next step!” the note read.

Coming into the season, Porter was one of the most highly-regarded prospects. Unfortunately for him, the forward tore his ACL and MCL, costing him the entire season. In a surprising and devastating twist, Porter once again tore his ACL last month, with the player admitting that he returned to the court prior to being medically cleared to play.

Of course, this time he’ll likely be taking things much more cautiously, and although he’s suffered two setbacks, Porter should still be drafted by a team that can stash him for the season, much like the Nuggets did with his brother last year. What remains to be seen is just how medically sound his knees are at this point, which is something that teams will likely be investing a lot of their research into.

If fully healthy, Porter can definitely be a huge piece for a team, but the health concerns will be something teams will have to look past.
