For basketball junkies out there, did you know that the longest NBA game in history was played with not three, not four, not five but six overtimes? This happened on January 6, 1951, between the Rochester Royals and the Indianapolis Olympians.
The valuable piece of basketball history can be found here.
The Olympians would eventually defeat the Royals to the tune of 75-73. The score was tied at the end of regulation at 65-all. Both teams experienced scoring drought as the Olympians would outpoint their counterpart 10-8 during the entire 6 overtime periods.

According to Basketball-Reference.com, both teams were held scoreless in the second and fourth overtime. Ralph Beard and Alex Groza tallied 17 points each while Bob Lavoy, Paul Walther and Cliff Barker contributed 13, 12 and 9 points, respectively. Joe Holland did not score for Indianapolis.
Meanwhile, Arnie Risen starred for the Royals with 26 points. Jack Coleman delivered 15 and Bill Calhoun posted 12. The game could have ended in Rochester's favor had they performed better at the foul line. The team only made 7 out of 12 foul shots while the Olympians were flawless, sinking 11 free throws in 11 attempts.
We're not sure what made this game better, the tremendous defense shown by both teams as evident by the low-scoring overtime periods or fans having to wait until the end despite having to endure two scoreless overtime periods. You be the judge.
