Even though he did not have a stellar freshman campaign in college with the USC Trojans, Bronny James is still attracting so much attention at the 2024 NBA Combine. Whether he likes it or not, a big reason for that is the fact that he's the eldest son of arguably the greatest player of all time, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

The attention Bronny has been generation does not exactly translate to a great position in several NBA mock drafts, but he might have just improved, even for just a little bit, his draft stock following an excellent showing in the 3-point drill at the Combine on Monday.

It also seems that many fans are convinced that Bronny James has what it takes to have a significant career in the pros, with some already thinking he's got a bigger potential to be taken in the second round. He may not have the career of his dad in the NBA, but Bronny could carve out a respectable role on any team.

“I think LeBron and the Lakers gotta understand this kid won’t be there in the Late 2nd round. The way we see guys lik Davion Mitchell, Peyton Pritchard, Jose Alvarado etc have impacted winning his stock is only going up. He’s only 6’1 but athleticism and can shoot? Idk man,” X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter) user said.

“Better than Dlo and Austin Reaves,” chimed in @BigKdawg095.

“If he keeps going like this … and putting good workout at the nba combine I can see him going late 2nd round,” shared @PaLaCalleYT.

“Way To Go Boiii! Cash Money,” commented @boy6lue.

Seeing Bronny shoot well from behind the arc at the NBA Combine was a very much welcome development for him, considering that he was not even remotely viewed as a shooter during the 2023-24 college basketball season with the Trojans.

In 25 games with USC, Bronny started only six times and averaged just 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while knocking down only 26.7 percent of his attempts from the 3-point region. Overall, he shot just 36.6 percent from the field. Those are far from spectacular numbers which often justify hype and immense draft stock, but one thing about Bronny is that he does seem to have a huge potential. He has the body, the size, and the athleticism to work with. That's not to mention the genes.

Is Bronny James close to fulfilling his NBA dreams?

There is no telling exactly whether Bronny will get selected in the coming 2024 NBA Draft, let alone which team will take him. LeBron surely wants to see his son reach the NBA while the Lakers star is still in the league. That would be a sweet moment not just for the James family but for the NBA, which should also greatly benefit from the undeniable economic impact of having a James father-and-son duo in the league.

Should the Lakers take Bronny to satisfy LeBron's dream? That's a tough subject but don't forget about the fact that LeBron has a player option worth over $51 million to decide on for the 2024-25 NBA season. The deadline for James' player-option decision is on June 29, which will be just a few days after the 2024 NBA Draft which is scheduled to take place from June 26 to June 27 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
