Some things are better left in the past. Everyone has moments in time that leave us scarred, embarrassed or frightened. Evidently, NBA players aren't excluded: from the past or present.
Earlier on Saturday, NBA on ESPN tweeted out a throwback video of Detroit Pistons great Isiah Thomas being elbowed by Utah Jazz icon Karl Malone as Thomas attempted to drive to the lane for a bucket.
The incident required Thomas to receive 40 stitches, and sure enough, he wasn't elated to be reminded of this uneventful day.
Just curious @ESPNNBA why would you want to memorialize this painful moment! #really @NBA #wtf https://t.co/uOrJBxVjai

While the past Isiah Thomas griped of his memory, the present Thomas wasn't thrilled either. Washington Wizards guard Isaiah Thomas — who just has an extra a in his name for the traditional spelling — tweeted out a similar sentiment. IT wondered why ESPN decided to post this memory in the first place.

With both Isiah and Isaiah disapproving of the post, ESPN probably will be more careful when sharing something like that again.
Of course, the memory isn't necessarily a bad one. It's a notable play and describes how physical the NBA was in the 80's, compared to today's game. But the play is a violent one when put in perspective and context. If you're Isaiah Thomas and you're opening your Twitter app on a Saturday, you just don't want to see that.
While the other Isaiah Thomas' Saturday was interrupted, it's worth noting he's doing well on the basketball court. This season, IT is averaging 12.6 points per game. Not where he used to be, but far and along where he has been the past couple years. Hopefully, Isaiah can get back to producing to the level he once was, so he can possibly share more than a name with the Pistons legend one day.
