LaMelo Ball is one of the top prospects in the upcoming 2020 NBA draft this October. According to Marc Berman of The New York Post, an anonymous NBA scout tagged the 6-foot-7 point guard as “a very dangerous” choice and that franchises who may look to drafting the youngest of the Ball brothers should be wary of the high-risk he brings.

“LaMelo is a very dangerous choice,’’ one NBA scout told The Post. “A very high risk-reward. All the baggage that comes with a decision like that is not what the Knicks need. Honestly, Lonzo [Ball] was a horrific shooter. He did manage to change his shot mechanics and now is a pretty good shooter. It’s very unusual but he did it and possibly LaMelo could, too.’’

Ball is slated to be among the first players to come off the board early in the draft. Some even have him at number 1.

The league already found out the order of the upcoming draft last Thursday. The Minnesota Timberwolves got the luck of the ping pong balls' bounce and will pick first. The Golden State Warriors landed at no. 2, while the Charlotte Hornets will select third.

The New York Knicks have expressed interest in LaMelo Ball previously. However, they fell to no. 8 and will likely not get the chance to pick him, unless New York trades up.

Many scouts view LaMelo Ball as a talented, lengthy point guard with tons of upside. But as the anonymous scout said, he will likely come with a lot of baggage with his father LaVar always in the picture. Likewise, the former Illawara Hawk, much like his brother Lonzo Ball, will enter the league with a pretty funky looking jump shot.

The New Orleans Pelicans guard has done his due diligence in improving his form and his efficiency from beyond the arc overall. Perhaps the potential top pick LaMelo will be able to do that as well.
