The Los Angeles Clippers have long had their games aired on Fox Sports Prime Ticket, but the deal with the cable channel expired this past June and the Clippers are currently without a way to stream games.

When the deal expired, owner Steve Ballmer reportedly attempted to sell only the TV rights to Fox, and allow him and the Clippers to own the live-streaming rights, according to Josh Kosman of the New York Post.

Fox responded to Microsoft executive Ballmer with a deal stating that both sides could indeed split the television/streaming rights, but the Clippers would only be able to offer those streaming services to customers of Prime Ticket.

Per Kosman of the N.Y. Post:

If the Clippers and Prime Ticket ink the TV rights deal, it would be the first among the four major sports leagues where the team kept streaming rights, sources familiar with the prospective deal said.

Fox Sports’ Prime Ticket, whose traditional cable TV rights deal recently expired in June, responded to Ballmer’s request to split the TV and streaming rights by recently giving the former Microsoft chief executive a take-it-or-leave-it proposal lasting two years, one source said.

Kosman adds that there's a greater than 50% chance that Ballmer and the Clippers sign this deal, and that NBA is also expected to approve of the deal that has never been seen before.
