When the Miami Heat successfully traded for Shaquille O'Neal in 2004, the team arranged a parade for him in Biscayne Boulevard to announce his arrival in the city. Instead of riding a small truck with a stage set-up on its back, the former MVP and 15-time All-Star opted to roll in an 18-wheeler with the words “Diesel Power” written on its sides.
Not to be outdone, his mother, Lucille O'Neal, made a similar entrance during the retirement ceremony of his son's number 32 jersey at the American Airlines Arena on Thursday night. She rode a smaller version of the 18-wheeler as she made her way to the hardwood to the delight of the crowd.
