With a winning record and sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference, it appeared like DeMarcus Cousins was on his way to his first playoff appearance in his career. However, everything changed in an instant on Friday, as he ruptured his Achilles late in the game versus the Houston Rockets. It was the biggest blow the New Orleans Pelicans have suffered all season long and he has not spoken about it since.
That changed recently though, as the four-time All-Star big man took to his Twitter account to let his fans know how he's feeling. He first talked about how unhappy he is with the injury but also took the opportunity to thank all his supporters for the love and prayers sent his way while using the hashtag “The Resurgence.”

Cousins was enjoying another solid season and playing at a very high level for the Pelicans with impressive averages of 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.6 blocks in 36.2 minutes per game. It will certainly be difficult for his team to find someone who can produce the same numbers for them, but it should be a team effort and everybody in their lineup must step up their games if they still want to finish the regular season strong and make the playoffs.
The situation of Cousins and the Pelicans is definitely something worth keeping an eye on especially with the Kentucky product slated to become a free agent this summer. There's no doubt that the team wants to re-sign him, but it will all depend now on how his recovery goes and what kind of pitch other franchises will make to entice him to sign with them.
