Apparently, Tony Allen is going to miss at least 2-4 more weeks after re-aggravating a left leg injury, according to Jennifer Hale of Fox Sports. This comes as a tough blow to the Pelicans, who are having a difficult time keeping their players healthy this season.

Against the 76ers on December 10, Allen fractured his fibula bone after trying to fight his way through a screen with only a few minutes left in the first quarter. Now that he has re-aggravated the fracture, the Pelicans will have to go more weeks without one of their best defenders. This season, the Pelicans have struggled to stay healthy thus far. Key injuries to Anthony Davis and Rajon Rondo have stripped the team of its potential, and they are now in 8th place in the Western Conference with a 20-19 record.
Article Continues BelowThis is surprising since the Pelicans have arguably the best front-court in the NBA: the domineering pair of DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis. The Pelicans have won half of their last 10 games, and will likely be in trouble since Allen will be missing more time with his injury. Without Allen, the Pelicans lose a quality perimeter defender, commonly regarded as one of the best in the league.
For the Pelicans to make the playoffs, they will have to rely on their superstar front-court to carry the load as Allen sits. The Clippers are currently four games back from the Pelicans, and could be a threat if the team starts losing. Hopefully, Allen can return to the Pelicans' lineup healthy and in time for the team to make a big postseason run.
