No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson hasn't played a regular season game with the New Orleans Pelicans yet, as he's been recovering from a torn meniscus in his right knee. The former Duke standout remains without an official timetable for return, but he was seen getting up a few shots with his teammates during Tuesday morning's practice session.

Some reports indicated that Williamson might be able to return to action sometime around Christmas, but it's not clear if he'll actually hit that mark. The Pelicans, who are struggling with a 6-21 overall record, will certainly be cautious with their approach to his return. As of now, he still isn't taking contact.

ā€œHe’s dying to be back out here,ā€ Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry said in November, via The Undefeated. ā€œHe’s taking his rehab very, very serious. He’s chomping on the bit. We’d love to have him out there because he is a game-changer.ā€

Zion played well in his four preseason outings, racking up averages of 23.3 points on 71.4 percent shooting from the field, 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals in 27.3 minutes per outing.

ā€œIt’s been tough for him only to be able to play in the preseason and not play now,ā€ Gentry said of Williamson. ā€œHe’s going to be special regardless because he is a team-first guy. And team-first guys seem to succeed in this league and have an impact on their team.ā€

Hopefully, Zion will be able to take the floor with his teammates sooner rather than later. For now, he'll continue to work towards that goal.
