New York Knicks center Enes Kanter has been absolutely everything the team could hope for this season, so it's no wonder why he was surprised when he found out that he would be starting off the bench for the Knicks against the Golden State Warriors.

The 26-year-old big man has averaged 16.8 points, 10.88 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 29.0 minutes per game this season. The production from Enes Kanter is there, but Coach David Fizdale decided to bench the center alongside Trey Burke and Lance Thomas.

Enes Kanter was at a loss for words after the news of his benching, and that was evident with a cryptic tweet he sent prior to Friday night's game versus the Warriors.

While Kanter couldn't formulate a definitive response, Coach Fizdale appears to have some reasoning for his decision on Friday's starting lineup.

It seems Coach Fizdale wants some more production off the bench. While changing 60 percent of your starting lineup may seem a bit drastic, the Knicks have lost their last four games. Perhaps a little bit of a feather-ruffling is what will turn the 1-4 Knicks around. The logic may be that Kanter could help make the second group of players perform better, in turn giving them more dependability when their starters are out.

It may be tough to decipher exactly how Kanter is taking the news because the “.” response does not exactly suggest he's excited about the move. The decision is a bit of a head-scratcher when you look at who is replacing Kanter in the starting lineup. Rookie Mitchell Robinson is averaging 2.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in three games for the Knicks this season — not exactly how you replace the kind of production that Kanter is responsible for.

The move is likely not a permanent one. Nonetheless, it's odd to see a move like this against the back-to-back defending champs.
