New York Knicks head coach David Fizdale says shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. has plantar fasciitis in his right foot and that the ailment could affect him for the whole season.

Tim Hardaway Jr. didn't play on Monday against the Phoenix Suns, but he will return to the lineup on Wednesday versus the Philadelphia 76ers. Fizdale says the injury is a nagging one for the 26-year-old swingman.

“Plantar fasciitis is nagging,” Fizdale said at Wednesday’s morning shootaround at Wells Fargo Center, via Marc Berman of the New York Post. “Some days it aches so bad, you can’t move on it. Other days you can tolerate. He’s trying to manage it.

“I know he’s been fighting through it a lot. I know he doesn’t want that as an excuse. I don’t want to put it out as it is an excuse. He’s been fighting through it for a while now. I don’t know if it’s had any impact on his shooting or not.

“We’re going to treat it. The more he can tolerate, that’s how much we’ll go with it. When he can’t take it anymore, that’s when we’ll give him rest. One of those injuries [where] it’s a real tender injury because you do everything with your heel. He’s been battling for us. That’s why I love him.”

Tim Hardaway Jr. is leading the Knicks in scoring this season. He's averaging 21.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 39.5 percent from the field, 35.8 percent from beyond the arc and 85.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Knicks enter Wednesday with a record of 9-23.
