The New York Knicks have plenty of potential targets for this upcoming free agency period. Among them is Kemba Walker, a Bronx native with plenty of fans within the organization, but not one they would take over their top priority at the point guard position — Kyrie Irving.

According to ESPN's Ian Begley, multiple executives are already expecting Irving to team up with Kevin Durant on the Knicks.

Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker also has fans in the Knicks organization. Multiple executives doing their homework on the free agent class, though, fully expect Durant to sign with the Knicks and Irving to join him.”

Walker has been climbing up the point guard ranks, bordering on that elite tier of floor generals, but Irving is a year-and-a-half younger than Walker and has the championship and playoff resume that elevate him over most others.

Irving and Durant are also viewed as a packaged deal, which for one — makes things easier for the organization when it comes to signing them, while also securing two of the top talents available in the free agent pool of 2019.

Walker has been linked to New York for the longest time, often asked if he'd consider coming to the Knicks if the opportunity presented itself. However, Walker has remained loyal to the Charlotte Hornets, who will have a tough pitch to make with no winning or semblance of a better roster to show for it.

As it sits now, the Dallas Mavericks are the Hornets biggest rivals with their potential to pry him away from a beefy five-year, $190 million max-level deal.
