The New York Knicks confirmed on Wednesday that their young star Kristaps Porzingis is available for trades. The Latvian forward skipped his exit meeting with the Knicks, which started a storm of speculations about his future with the New York franchise. As for right now, Porzingis is not being shopped around the league, but Knicks team president Phil Jackson confirmed that they were getting calls from other franchises.
As ESPN reports, the two teams that contacted the Knicks were Oklahoma City and Phoenix. Phoenix's deal included the fourth pick in the upcoming draft, as well as young prospects Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss. As for the Thunder, ESPN reports that the franchise did not have enough to offer.
The Porzingis saga started at the end of last season, when the Latvian forward missed his exit meeting with GM Steve Mills and team president Phil Jackson. His main reason was the dysfunction in the franchise and the treatment of Carmelo Anthony, the franchise's best player.
While Porzingis is unhappy with how the front office treats Knicks players, his brother Janis stated that Porzingis wants to stay and win in New York. Jackson spoke to the MSG network about this whole saga and he confirmed that they are getting calls.

“We're getting calls. As much as we value Kristaps and what he's done for us, when a guy doesn't show up for an exit meeting, everybody starts speculating on the duration or movability from a club,” Jackson said in an interview on MSG Network. “So we've been getting calls and we're listening, but we're not intrigued yet at this level. But as much as we love this guy, we have to do what's good for our club.”
Other than the Suns and Thunder, other teams speculated to contact the Knicks about Porzingis are the Spurs, 76ers, Celtics, Lakers and Mavericks. Especially interesting was the offer from the 76ers, whose star Joel Embiid already started “recruiting” Porzingis to the 76ers.

The Knicks hold the 8th selection in the upcoming draft and hope to take Finish forward Lauri Markkanen. Per ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, with the pick they hope to get from trading Porzingis, the Knicks want to select Kansas forward Josh Jackson.
