The Thunder might be interested in this note on an Oklahoma legend: According to reports, Buddy Hield wants out in Sacramento. Several teams should come running at the opportunity to trade for Hield who will begin the first year of a four-year contract next season.

On the daily Locked On Thunder Podcast, host Rylan Stiles discusses the possibility of the Thunder making a move for Buddy Hield right now.

Rylan Stiles: The Thunder have flexibility in their cap sheet because they still have the cost-controlled contract of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with his bird rights on his rookie extension. They have the same thing with Darius Bazley, Lu Dort is playing for peanuts. The bottom line is you would still have the flexibility financially to re-sign Buddy Hield and extend his window with this team.

To me, it just seems like it would be a move that happened too soon. I don't think the Thunder should make this move because you don't want to make a dent in any of these assets yet. You want to hold on to all of these assets because, yes, Buddy Hield would be nice. Just like going and buying an iPhone 11 tomorrow would certainly be nice, but if you wait a month the iPhone 12 will come out. If you wait a month or two or even a year or two years you're gonna have a disgruntled star that's not Buddy Hield's caliber but is Bradley Beal's caliber and you want to have those assets for that guy more so than Buddy.

Yes, Buddy is a nice player. Again he would help Shai a lot if you view him as a point guard. He would be locked in financially for Oklahoma City and be someone who I think that realistically you could re-sign after the deal is over. You have that security if you trade for him right now. You have four years of Buddy Hield, those are all positives for a Buddy Hield trade. I just think that you just wait it out until you know for sure you've gotten the pieces to go all in.
