After spending his first seven seasons in the NBA with the Indiana Pacers, superstar forward Paul George has been traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder teaming up with reigning MVP Russell Westbrook.

Although George has moved on and forced his way out of Indiana, the 27-year-old still has a soft spot for the city. George took to Twitter this week to express his love for the city that he left behind.

George has dealt with a fair amount of hate for forcing his way out of Indiana with Pacers fans and the organization upset about the way things went down. Despite all the negativity sent his way, George has also had people express their appreciation for what he did with the team during his seven-year stint in Indiana.

Recently retired Indianapolis Colts linebacker Robert Mathis was also among those that have sent George some encouragement on Twitter. Mathis supported the NBA star and urged him to continue on his path to potentially become a Hall of Famer someday.

Before ultimately being traded to the Thunder earlier this summer, George approached the Pacers brass and demanded to be sent elsewhere. The veteran forward let his intentions be known publicly that he prefers to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers once he hits NBA free agency next summer, but ended up in Oklahoma City regardless.

General manager Sam Presti was willing to take the gamble on George in the trade which many see as one sided. Oklahoma City sent Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis to Indiana in exchange for the perennial All-Star.

Presti and company hope to sell George on staying with the Thunder long-term as part of a dynamic duo with Westbrook. The Lakers are considered the favorite to land George in 2018, but Oklahoma City could be a legitimate threat if the Thunder become a contender during the 2017-18 campaign.
