Paul George will take on a previously driven road, teaming up with ESPN to document his impending offseason free agent decision, much like LeBron James did in 2010 when he took his talents to South Beach to join the Miami Heat.
“SportsCenter will take viewers behind the scenes with the five-time NBA All-Star with exclusive and intimate access during his offseason in “Paul George: My Journey,” a three-part series that will debut in the 6 p.m. ET edition of SportsCenter on Tuesday, June 26.”
This could either endear George to the Oklahoma City Thunder fan base or villainize him like it did with James after he left his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers to join friends Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in South Beach.

“Part 1 will examine George’s rise to NBA stardom while the second part, debuting June 28, will follow him during his off-court pursuits as he prepares to build on his career. Part 3, which will air after George’s NBA plans are made public, will give viewers a look at what’s next for George and how he arrived at his ultimate decision. All three parts will be approximately six minutes in length.”
“This inside story is just another way that SportsCenter will offer distinctive content on free agency, one of the biggest offseason stories in the NBA,” said David Roberts, ESPN vice president, network content, who oversees the 6 p.m. SportsCenter.”
George, a Palmdale native, has been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers since his camp announced he would merely be a “one-year rental” with any team other than the purple-and-gold, after he requested a trade from the Indiana Pacers last offseason.
