Victor Oladipo has had an up and down first four years with trade rumors and some widely inconsistent play.

But in his fifth year in the league, Oladipo has taken a big step forward and that has resulted in first All-Star game selection.

In an exclusive interview with Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports Oladipo gave his thoughts on the honor.

“It definitely means a lot to me, an accomplishment that is humbling to me, I’m just proud I get to represent not only the Indiana Pacers — but my family — as an All-Star. When I got voted in, I was so honored and excited. I look at this as a stepping stone. I have a lot more goals, a lot more things that I want to accomplish as a team and as an individual. That’s my mentality, that I have one [All-Star honor] under my belt, but there’s more I want to accomplish. I truly believe that and I know I have to keep working so I can achieve more. I grew up idolizing players in the All-Star Game, and now I’m one of them. It will be surreal.”

Oladipo came over to the Indiana Pacers in the trade that sent Paul George to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Most at the time believed the Thunder ran away with the trade but Oladipo has proven them wrong.

He is currently averaging 24.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. He has led the Pacers to a 32-25 record which is good enough for sixth place in the Eastern Conference. For a team that wasn't supposed to make the playoffs, Oladipo has put the Pacers in a good spot not only this year but for many years to come.
