DeMarcus Cousins won't dwell on his second ejection of the season, which he received in the winding moments of a 125-115 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Monday night. The New Orleans Pelicans big man got into a war of words with Kevin Durant and both players were tossed from the game after receiving their second technical fouls of the game.
“It sucks it happened,” Cousins said, according to William Guillory of The New Orleans Times-Picayune. “I try to go out my way to do things the right way and I felt most of it was instigated from the other end. But they felt like we both were in the wrong. It is what it is.”
Cousins now has seven technical fouls through the first 24 games of the season, getting into dangerous territory given his propensity to reach the NBA's max of 16, as he did last season. Cousins served a one-game suspension upon reaching 16 and then another two upon being traded to the Pelicans, hitting his 18th of the season.

I know I have a reputation in this league, and I know I'll never get the benefit of the doubt, so I've just got to keep trying to do the right thing.”
Cousins' reputation is in no way helping, and his trash-talking style of play is bound to get him into more trouble than he likely deserves, but it's ultimately up to him to become less of a liability to get in trouble with the officials and help his team in the midst of the absence of Anthony Davis.
