The NBA has fined Philadelphia 76ers star Jimmy Butler and Brooklyn Nets veteran Jared Dudley for initiating the altercation that took place in Game 4 of first round playoff series.

Dudley took the brunt of the hit and as he was fined $25,000. Meanwhile, Butler was fined $15,000 for his involvement in the incident.

Fortunately, no suspension was handed out and both Dudley and Butler will be available in Game 5 of the Sixers-Nets series.

The melee took place in the third quarter of Game 4 when Sixers center Joel Embiid fouled Jarrett Allen hard. Jared Dudley rushed to the aid of his Nets teammate and pushed Embiid, who walked away immediately. Jimmy Butler immediately shoved Dudley in retaliation and for a second, it looked like both players were ready to go at it before cooler heads prevailed.

Embiid was called for a Flagrant 1, while Butler and Dudley were both ejected.

Dudley received the larger fine because he was the one who initiated everything, while Butler just retaliated.

Philadelphia still won Game 4 and now leads the series against Brooklyn 3-1. The Sixers will have an opportunity to close the series out on Tuesday.

With Embiid still nursing a knee injury, it is important for the rest of the Sixers players to keep their composure and avoid any type of altercation that could lead to suspensions. The Nets are still a very dangerous team, and if given the perfect opportunity, they will surely take advantage of it.

If Philly does eliminate Brooklyn, they will face the winner of the Toronto-Raptors Orlando Magic series in the conference semi-finals.
