After more than a year of wait, the Cleveland Browns can be called winners again after taking down the New York Jets at home on Thursday, 21-17. That means there are a lot of emotional folks in Cleveland reaching for a box of Kleenex, including Portland Trail Blazers guard and proud Browns fan C.J. McCollum, who went off on Twitter to celebrate the rare sporting phenomenon.

C.J. McCollum is obviously in a glass case of emotions right now, unable to discern the exact feeling he is going through. That’s purely understandable, though. The Browns and their long-suffering fans deserved the victory and the process of how it happened Thursday put McCollum and anyone with an emotional investment on the franchise on a rollercoaster,
The Browns found themselves in a 14-3 hole at the half of the Jets game and entered the dugout aware that they’re likely not going to have starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor back on the field after he sustained a concussion and exited the contest in the second quarter.
However, rookie signal-caller Baker Mayfield stepped into the limelight and took over for the Browns. The first-overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, with help from running back Carlos Hyde and wide receiver Jarvis Landry, led the Browns in the second half to erase what was once a 14-point deficit and lead the team into an incredibly sweet victory.

Hopefully for McCollum, the Browns can sustain their momentum as they prepare for next week’s showdown with the Oakland Raiders.
