Kevin Durant didn’t have to use a burner Twitter account to serve C.J. McCollum a pill that the Portland Trail Blazers guard must have found tough to swallow.
During a recent episode of McCollum’s Pull Up podcast, the Golden State Warriors forward sort of played the role of a rude guest by telling the former Lehigh Mountain Hawk straight up that the Blazers are not going to be NBA champions.
McCollum responded by saying that the Blazers have the tools to make Durant eat his own words, but the two-time NBA Finals MVP simply laughed it off.
Meanwhile, McCollum’s backcourt mate, Damian Lillard, heard of Durant’s comment via Instagram, and as expected, he did not like what the Warriors superstar said. Three ‘thinking face’ emojis stitched together were all Lillard needed to show how much he rejects Durant’s view of his team.

The Blazers have done well in keeping themselves competitive in the dog-eat-dog world of the Western Conference over the past several years. But while they have made the playoffs in each of the last five seasons, they have not progressed past the second round in any of those campaigns. Just this year, they were swept by the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round.
Obviously, for Durant, if the Blazers can’t even win a single game in the first round against an opponent the Warriors destroyed the following round, then Damian Lillard and McCollum have plenty of work left to do to convince the rest of the NBA that they’re capable of taking a Larry O’Brien Trophy.
