Portland Trail Blazers center Enes Kanter called out the Denver Nuggets after learning that a fan insulted him about Turkey during Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals:

Kanter has a long-standing feud with the Turkish government, which has prevented him from going back to the country where his family resides. He has been vocal about the alleged abuse of power by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who he claims has done harm to his family and friends on multiple occasions in the past.

It is the main reason why Kanter can't and doesn't want to go out of the United States. He fears that he might get assassinated if he ever goes back to Turkey.

Although Kanter is having a great postseason run with the Blazers, the Turkish big man can't help but be offended by people who seem to not understand his situation. Still, he makes the most of his opportunity in the NBA, with the hopes that he could see his family in Turkey again one day.

Kanter is averaging 20.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in the first two games against the Nuggets. The series is tied at one game apiece, with Games 3 and 4 to be played in Portland.

This is yet another instance involving a fan making things too personal against an NBA player who just happens to play basketball and compete against the team they support. It is unclear if the league will do an investigation about this, but no matter what happens, Enes Kanter will do his best to help the Blazers win.
