The Portland Trail Blazers officially signed veteran big man Pau Gasol on Thursday.

Blazers president of basketball operations Neil Olshey released a statement on the move.

“Pau is a future Hall of Famer that brings invaluable championship experience and an elite skill set and basketball IQ to our roster,” Olshey said, via Blazers.com.

Among all-time NBA leaders, Gasol ranks 21st in blocks (1,941), 28th in total rebounds (11,305), 29th in minutes (41,001), 35th in games played (1,226) and 37th in points (20,894). He is just one of 18 players in NBA history to amass at least 20,000 points and 10,000 rebounds.

Pau Gasol has won two championships, both with the Los Angeles Lakers. He split time last season with the San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 3.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 30 games while shooting 44.7 percent from the field, 46.2 percent from beyond the arc and 70.0 percent from the free-throw line

Now 39-years-old, Gasol has career averages of 17.0 points and 9.2 rebounds. At this stage of his career, Gasol can give you some solid minutes off the bench. The Blazers will use Gasol as a backup to Hassan Whiteside and Jusuf Nurkic, the latter of whom is scheduled to return from injury around the All-Star break.

The Blazers lost to the Golden State Warriors in four games in the 2019 Western Conference Finals. Gasol isn't going to put Portland over the hump, but he's a good guy to have in your locker room and will have a positive impact on point guard Damian Lillard and shooting guard C.J. McCollum.
