The Portland Trail Blazers have recalled Wade Baldwin IV from the G League. The announcement came from the Blazers' president of basketball operations in Neil Olshey, as reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Baldwin played 17 games, with 16 starts, for the Texas Legends, averaging 18.2 points on 42.2 percent shooting from the field, 4.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 2.18 steals in 33.8 minutes per game.

According to Mike Richman of The Oregonian, adding Baldwin should not be a salary cap concern for the Blazers.

“Under league rules, Baldwin can spend 45 days with the Blazers during the G League regular season and his salary will not count against Portland's salary cap. After the G League regular season ends in late March, Baldwin can rejoin the Blazers without affecting their salary cap. The timing of the move allows Portland to maximize Baldwin's time with the NBA club without any financial ramifications.”

The Blazers signed Baldwin on Oct. 25 but he had to undergo surgery to repair an injury to the ulnar collateral ligament with a tear in his right thumb. The surgery and recovery delayed Baldwin’s G League assignment. He has not appeared in any of the Blazers games this season.

Baldwin was the 17th pick overall in the 2016 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. In his rookie season, Baldwin played 33 games for the Grizzlies and went on to average 3.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists on 12.3 minutes per game.

The Grizzlies waived Baldwin prior to the 2017-18 season, paving the way for the Blazers to pick him up and sign him to a two-way contract.
