Damian Lillard has been a dominant force for the Portland Trail Blazers this season, averaging 29.9 points, 7.9 assists, 4.4 rebounds, with shooting splits of 44.6 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from deep, and 93.2 percent from the line. These impressive numbers have led to MVP rumblings from the media and fans alike.
One of the biggest advocates of Lillard's MVP campaign is a former winner of the award, NBA great Shaquille O’Neal. On NBA on TNT, Shaq expressed his support for the nine-year guard to win the illustrious trophy.
"Dame D.O.L.L.A. is the most feared man with three seconds left in the game."

Fellow host Adam Lefkoe asked the Big Aristotle if it's time for Lillard to be in the MVP conversation and Shaq replied with a resounding “Hell yes.” The 2000 NBA MVP also chimed in on what makes Lillard so valuable.

Lillard’s ability in the clutch has been statistically unparalleled this season, as he is leading the NBA in fourth quarter scoring with 8.5 points. His consistent three-point shooting is also a staple of Dame Time, connecting on a white-hot 43.8 percent of his attempts from deep in the final frame.
The MVP race is a stout competition though, with LeBron James, Joel Embiid, and Nikola Jokic among others also in the running. Embiid, however, sustained a knee injury that will keep him on the sidelines for at least a few weeks.
Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, meanwhile, are jockeying for position with Lillard and the Trail Blazers in the Western Conference, as they are tied for the fifth seed. The success of both teams will play a major role in who wins the MVP plum.
If the Trail Blazers are able to keep playing well and Damian Lillard continues to carry them to new heights, Shaq might be proven correct.
