Portland Trail Blazers veteran forward Carmelo Anthony achieved a tremendous career milestone on Sunday by moving into the 15th spot on the NBA's all-time scoring list. This prompted a ton of congratulatory messages for the 10-time All-Star, including a fair amount coming from his peers in the league.
Some of the first few NBA personalities who gave a shout out to Anthony following his historic feat were a couple of his Banana Boat buddies in Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul:
TOP 15!!! @carmeloanthony

Keep going my brother!!! ✊🏾 @carmeloanthony https://t.co/2gm7bTLfXZ

With Carmelo Anthony logging 20 points on Sunday in a win against the Philadelphia 76ers, the veteran was able to bring up his tally to 26,411 career points. In the process, he surpassed both John Havlicek and Paul Pierce on this prestigious list, entering the Top 15 all-time greatest scorers in league history.
For Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, Melo's latest personal accolade proves a simple fact:
Congrats Melo! One of the greatest. Simple as that. https://t.co/QIipnHKaO0

Veteran guard Jamal Crawford, now with the Brooklyn Nets, was quick to point out how so many people were hating on Anthony not too long ago, as Melo went through the most difficult period of his career last season.
Melo deserves all these moments and more. The fact so many people tried to end his career early for him is disturbing. Get your flowers Melo. We are with you always!! https://t.co/o8P3MpF9KU

Michael Beasley also raised a fair point about Anthony's current tally, given his two-season “hiatus” from the NBA:
The fact that @carmeloanthony sat out two year and still got 26k pts is ridiculous. He supposed have at least 30 by now

There's no denying that this is an astounding achievement by Anthony, but even he himself admitted that now is not the time to celebrate. He understands what's at stake for the Blazers at this point, and would rather focus on how he can help his team achieve its objectives this season as opposed to celebrating a personal accolade.
