The Sacramento Kings will be facing the Denver Nuggets, and they will be without one of their top scorers in the contest. Zach LaVine has been ruled out with a thumb injury, and they'll have to find another way to upset one of the best teams in the league, especially since they already did it earlier this season.
The Kings were coming into the matchup on an eight-game losing streak and had just taken a 41-point loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, who didn't have Ja Morant and Jaron Jackson Jr. Some would think that things would get even worse for the Kings from there, but they were able to pull away with a 128-123 victory against the Nuggets.
It was a collective group effort from the team, and LaVine pitched in 15 points in the win. They'll have to find somewhere else to get those points from this time, and the Nuggets would be coming back to avenge themselves from that loss.
Since that win from the Kings, things have not gotten much better, as they're fighting to climb the Western Conference standings. They've been without Domantas Sabonis for the past few weeks as he suffered a meniscus injury, and there's no doubt that they've missed him.
For the time being, players such as LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Russell Westbrook, and Dennis Schroder have had to step up as much as they can.
Things have not seemed to be working with LaVine and the Kings this season, and it has been a question if he fits with the team. After their win against the Miami Heat, where he scored 42 points, he had an interesting quote that says a lot about how he feels about the team's struggles this season.
“I can do that any night if they give me the damn ball enough,” LaVine said via Cyro Asseo of Hoopshype on X, formerly Twitter.
