The second annual NBPA Players' Choice Awards took place today, with a variety of honors handed out to some of the game's icons. The titles of the specific awards aren't exactly what traditional (like Best Dressed and Best Social Media Follow), and they're voted for by the players rather than the media and fans.
Often, the awards aren't based on statistics or results, but rather how the players actually feel about their peers. It's hard to quantify what makes the Most Influential Veteran.
As a result, the winners are often different in categories that mirror the classic NBA awards given out every year. Instead of Coach of the Year, there's an award for the “Coach You'd Most Like To Play For.” Not surprisingly, it went to the San Antonio Spurs‘ Gregg Popovich.
Here's what some notable players had to say about Coach Pop:

The coach an NBA player would most like to play for is obviously different than the Coach of the Year. Even if Popovich's Spurs had struggled this year, most players still would've identified him as the one man they'd love to play for more than the rest.
I wouldn't be surprised if this year's Coach of the Year, Steve Kerr, was pretty high up in the voting by the NBPA, though. In his relatively short coaching stint with the Golden State Warriors, he's always gained a reputation for being incredibly intelligent and likable.
