The San Antonio Spurs recently reached a buyout agreement with 11-year veteran DeMarre Carroll. In a recent interview with Tom Orsborn of My San Antonio, Carroll revealed that he didn't know what went wrong in San Antonio.

“I don’t know what went wrong, what happened,” Carroll said. “I felt like San Antonio was going to be a great place for me, for my talents, but it didn’t work out. But, at the end of the day, I am totally healthy. I work out every day, twice a day.”

This past summer, Carroll signed a three-year deal worth nearly $21 million with the Spurs. However, his time with the team didn't go as planned, as he struggled to find a consistent role with the team.

His style of play didn't exactly fit well in Gregg Popovich’s system. The Spurs were hoping to trade him before the NBA trade deadline, but they never found a trade partner.

Carroll played in 15 games with the Spurs, averaging 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in only nine minutes. He shot 31.0 percent from the field, 23.1 percent from 3-point range and 60.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Nonetheless, the 33-year old is expected to receive $7 million this season and his guaranteed $6.65 million in 2020-21. Carroll is now set to be an unrestricted free agent, though the Houston Rockets are expected to sign him once he clears waivers.

DeMarre Carroll could fit well the in Rockets since they're currently running a small-ball lineup. Houston is currently the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a record of 34-20.
