Gregg Popovich is a master motivator. For years, Pop has consistently pushed his players to play their best. That's why the San Antonio Spurs are consistently competitive and why Popovich has led the organization to multiple championships during his tenure.
At Team USA minicamp, the Spurs head coach told the team that he would buy a car for the winner of a shooting contest. James Harden won the contest — no surprise there — and Popovich delivered on his promise for a new set of wheels.

Ok, so maybe Popovich wasn't 100 percent clear when he told the team he would buy the winner a brand new car. Rather than buying Harden an actual car, Popovich gifted the reigning MVP a Hot Wheels car.

To be fair, the Hot Wheels car looks like one of the nicer ones. Maybe Harden can find a bidder for it on eBay and make some money back. In fact, the toy car might be worth something now that it's gaining fame.
Harden should have no problem purchasing a car of his own if he wants. The Houston Rockets superstar will make upwards of $30 million next year. He also signed a four-year $169 million extension that kicks in come 2019. Harden is set to become one of the richest basketball players in the world.
Popovich's little prank on the reigning MVP is all in good fun. Team USA minicamp is a very laidback experience for the players and it gives them the chance to work with the best players and coaches in the world. Of course, Harden didn't take home the new set of wheels he wanted, but he won't be too upset about that.
