The Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the biggest surprises this year after getting off to a competitive 8-7 start to the 2017-18 NBA season. Budding superstar Joel Embiid and rookie phenom Ben Simmons have led the way with one stellar performance after another.

Although it is encouraging to see the Sixers' former lottery picks finally start to develop, there is still one that has been virtually non-existent all year long. Jahlil Okafor, the former No. 3 overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft has largely been relegated to the bench this season and the team has yet to engage in any serious talks to get him out of Philly.

As a result, his father was seen wearing a “Free Jah” shirt at the Sixers' game versus the Golden State Warriors, according to Derek Bodner of The Athletic.

Head coach Brett Brown has made it clear that there is not a place for Jahlil Okafor in the Sixers' promising, young rotation. His only meaningful action this year came in a 128-94 blowout loss to the Toronto Raptors, where he recorded 10 points and nine rebounds in 22 minutes. Since then, he has only seen three whopping minutes of action.

Although Okafor's role has all but dissipated, Philadelphia has been hesitant to let the third-year big man go without some kind of return. That said, it could only be a matter of time before his presence starts to negatively affect what the Sixers are trying to build.
