The San Antonio Spurs have gotten off a slower start to the 2017-18 season than what many have become accustomed to seeing due to injuries to both Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker.

What has stood out during the process is how much of the scoring load that LaMarcus Aldridge has shouldered with the dynamic that is present with the team. Aldridge recently addressed the situation where he further embraced the increased responsibility, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.

The 32-year-old has proven to be a reliable No.1 option averaging 21.9 points, which is the highest total since joining the Spurs. He currently leads the team in points, rebounds, and minutes per game including in scoring 14 times while notching 20 or more points in all but five games and scored 30-plus points twice.

On top of that, he has recorded seven double-doubles which include six 20-point, 10-rebound games after having just three all last year. His consistent scoring output has been a huge crutch while both Leonard and Parker are on the mend.

It also shows that Aldridge still has plenty left in the tank to play at a high level for the next few seasons through his new extension that runs through the 2020-21 campaign.
