After originally thinking Leonard may return on Friday, an update do his status was provided by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Originally, Leonard's return was targeted for Friday's game against the Phoenix Suns. He participated in a workout on Thursday, and would have played against the Suns if all went well with that workout.
But apparently, all didn't go well.
Article Continues BelowDetails are scarce about why exactly Leonard chose not to play against the Suns. Perhaps he had a setback or he just isn't all the way ready. Maybe the team doctors felt he needed one more practice.
Whatever the reason, one more game won't really hurt the Spurs or Leonard. He's already missed the entire season because of this injury, and the Spurs have so far held their own without him in the lineup.
But obviously getting their stay player back on the basketball court will be a plus for the Spurs. And it has to be frustrating for Leonard to think he's coming back one day, only to be pushed back another couple of days.
However, the Spurs are doing the right thing by waiting until they're absolutely certain Leonard is 100 percent before he returns to action.
