After months of speculation, Carmelo Anthony has finally moved on from the New York Knicks and is now part of the Oklahoma City Thunder. When asked what his parting message to Knicks fans was, Melo wanted them to understand that this move was a “business decision” and had his career in mind, per Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript.

Anthony was a loyal servant of the New York Knicks for seven seasons. He was perhaps too loyal for his own good. He had opportunities to leave in the past, but instead, he chose to stay and play for his hometown team and city. Even all of Phil Jackson’s antics couldn’t prevent Anthony from waiving his no-trade clause and leaving the Knicks.

But now that he’s 33 years old and his window to win an NBA championship is growing smaller, Anthony probably decided that now was the time for him to finally move on from the Knicks.

Anthony didn’t even want to move to Oklahoma City; he reportedly had his sights set on Houston. But as he said, it was a sensible business decision for him to extend his list of destinations to the Thunder, where he will have a very good opportunity to compete for a title playing alongside Russell Westbrook and Paul George.
