On Wednesday, the much-anticipated return of Paul George to Bankers Life Fieldhouse took place, as the Oklahoma City Thunder visited the Indiana Pacers for the first time since acquiring him during the offseason. It turned out as expected as the home fans booed and heckled him the whole game, making him feel unwelcomed back to the city he represented the past seven years.

When asked to give his thoughts about what he experienced on the night, the four-time All-Star admitted it wasn't easy for him. He then added, via Michael Lee of Yahoo! Sports, that he hoped the fans would appreciate what he has done for the franchise but has now moved on from it as he is focused on the rest of his career instead.

“It was tough. I was ultimately part of hanging banners that will forever be in this arena, of winning our division and being a part of some really good Pacers teams,” George said. “It sucks that they forget about that and want to relish on a couple of months instead of what I’ve done for years here. It’s fine. I thought I handled it as well as I could. But I’ve moved on and I’m ready for the next part of my career.”

It can be recalled that the Pacers front office ultimately decided to trade George last summer after he informed them that he will test free agency after this season, and most likely will not re-sign with the team anymore. He also made it known that he prefers to play for his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers, which left the Pacers moving him to assure them that they get something in return for his services.

Despite the home crowd cheering against him, George and the Thunder had the last laugh on the night as they won, 100-95. He did not have one of his best games, but the 27-year-old Fresno State product sealed the victory for his team with two clutch free throws in the dying seconds of the game. With Oklahoma City having a slow start to the season, the huge win could serve as a confidence booster for them, which could start a winning streak that they badly right now.
