The Minnesota Timberwolves have begun a surprising resurgence this season, thanks to the efforts of Jimmy Butler, Karl Anthony-Towns, and Andrew Wiggins. The Timberwolves have failed to make the postseason since 2004. Interestingly, the franchise has begun a new era and will likely make the postseason and begin a deep playoff run.
However, the Timberwolves are now beginning to get a taste of their first obstacle this season. Against the Houston Rockets, Jimmy Butler tore his MCL in an unfortunate accident.

This injury is certainly a gut punch to an organization with high hopes. The small forward is averaging 22.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists for the Timberwolves, and have arguably been the franchise's best player.
Now, the Timberwolves will be forced to improvise without Butler's presence. Nonetheless, head coach Tom Thibodeau has stressed that the organization will not make a roster move to fill Butler's spot, per Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune.
“We talk every day about the possibilities,” he said at this morning's shootaround. “We're 60 games into it. I like the team that we have. “The main thing is we just want Jimmy to be healthy again,” Thibodeau said.

“We're not going to put a timeline on it. He's already begun the rehab process and hopefully that will go well. We'll take it step-by-step.”
The Timberwolves are in a precarious situation. Currently sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference, the Timberwolves could experience some slippage without their star small forward. Hopefully, the Timberwolves can grind it out for the rest of the regular season and make a splash in the postseason.
