The Minnesota Timberwolves have talked to teams around the league about sixth man Jamal Crawford prior to tomorrow's trade deadline, according to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports. The Wolves are reportedly looking for more shooting and defense, likely another three-and-D player to add to the fold, as they look to strengthen their case for one of the top seeds in a very competitive Western Conference.
Crawford is averaging a whisker shy of 10 points per game under Tom Thibodeau's system, doing so for the first time since the second year of his career, growing up within the Chicago Bulls system.
The 17-year veteran has surprisingly shot it better from the field than in his last four seasons, at 42.2 percent, but has proved merely a volume shooter from deep, making only 33.7 percent of his shots from distance.
Article Continues BelowMinnesota will continue to look for ways to trade the sixth man extraordinaire, who has seen only 18.9 minutes per game this season — a big shave on playing time from the 26.3 minutes he saw last season as a member of the L.A. Clippers.
His trade-friendly contract could be the key for any team looking for instant scoring while center Cole Aldrich and forward Shabazz Muhammad could be part of a potential package if the Wolves aim for a big name.
At 37 years old, Crawford has still proven to be a capable scorer and very fit to provide good performances with given playing time, but unfortunately, the starter-heavy Thibodeau hasn't proven to be the coach that could get the most out of his talents this season.
