Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri says point guard Kyle Lowry will get legacy treatment in contract talks.
Lowry has one-year left on his deal with the Raptors. He’ll make $33.3 million this season.

Ujiri was asked if the Lowry talks are different than those involving Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka or Fred VanVleet because of that history.
“No question. Kyle has an incredible legacy here that I think we all have underrated,” Ujiri said. “We’ve had our ups and downs and bumps and grinds, but the inner core of who he is as a player and what he’s done with this franchise, he definitely deserves that. There’s legacy status for him in my opinion. Someone who has given it his all: Five-time all-star … Everything he’s given. We can say whatever we want about Kyle: He comes and he gives it his all on the court.
“We’ll always pay Kyle that respect. What he’s done for this city, for this ball club, is remarkable. You all know: We’re sitting here, there’s many of you here, you all know when we sat down here six years ago, and we would never write this script, this way, in any form of dreams. And this is where it is. I’m proud of him for that.”

Kyle Lowry signed a three-year, $100 million contract with the Raptors in the summer of 2017. The five-time All-Star won his first championship last season.
Lowry averaged 14.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 8.7 assists during the 2018-19 regular-season while shooting 41.1 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 83.0 percent from the free-throw line.
In the 2019 playoffs, Lowry put up 15.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.6 assists. The Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals in six games.
